I do not run analytics, ads, or trackers. Browser tools keep your work on this device. The website only sees a message if you choose to send one.

Who I am

Tools I Wish I Had is a small studio. I am the person who builds the tools, reads the mail, and answers questions. Write to hello@toolsiwishihad.com or use the contact form.

This website

Visiting the site does not create an account and does not send me a list of pages you opened. If you use the contact or request form, I receive the words you typed and the email address you gave, so I can reply. I do not sell that mail, and I do not add it to a newsletter unless you ask.

The host may keep ordinary server logs (a time, an address, a page) for a short while to keep the site up. Those logs are not used to profile you.

Browser extensions

Each extension asks only for what its one job needs. Nothing is sent to my servers. There is no account inside the extension, no analytics, and no files loaded from the internet for the tool itself.

Preferences, a 7-day trial start, and any license key you paste stay in Chrome's storage on this computer. A placeholder key is enough to try the paid parts locally. Real checkout comes later; it will not change this rule.

If a tool ever needs a new permission, I will say why in the release notes before it ships. More on how I treat that in what my extensions can see.

Icon Crate

Collects SVG icons from the page you have open, only after you click the toolbar icon. Icon Crate uses:

• activeTab and scripting — open the panel and read SVGs on the current tab. Nothing runs on other tabs or in the background.
• storage — remember your trial, license, mode, view, and the panel's place and size on this device.
• downloads — save a single SVG or a zip, only when you ask.

Fetching a page's own .svg files happens in that tab so they can be cleaned and saved.

Moodboard Tab

Pins image addresses to one board on this device. Moodboard Tab uses:

• contextMenus — add Pin to Moodboard when you right-click an image.
• storage — keep the board, trial start, license, mode, and the panel's place and size on this device.
• activeTab and scripting — open the panel on the page you are looking at, only when you click the icon.
• downloads — save the exported HTML file you asked for.

Pinned images load from their original addresses. The extension does not copy those files to my servers.

Other tools

Each listing and README names the same kinds of permissions in plain words. Web apps in this family stay in the browser unless a page says otherwise before you start.

Children

These tools are made for working adults. I do not knowingly collect information from children.
